Booking and timing

What are the phone hours?

Monday to Saturday 8 to 8, Sunday 8 to 1 (Eastern time). Outside those hours, try again the next morning.

Can I book a dumpster for a specific day?

Ask for the date you want. Companies plan routes ahead, so a few days' notice helps, and more if a street permit is involved.

How long can I keep it?

Quotes include a set number of days. Longer rentals are usually possible for an added daily charge; ask before you book.

Can the company move the container once it's down?

Rarely without a second trip. Choose the spot carefully; placement tips.

How full can I fill it?

Level with the top edge, unless the company sets a lower line for heavy debris. Nothing should stick out over the sides.

Can I mix yard waste with household junk?

Some companies want them separate because they go to different sites. Say what you're mixing when you call.

Can my neighbors use it?

Only if you agree. A tarp or a locked lid, where offered, discourages others from filling your weight allowance.

What about the paint and old electronics?

Permits and placement

Does a driveway dumpster need a permit in Albany?

The city's street permit is for containers on the street. On your own driveway it generally doesn't apply. Permit guide.

I live in a rowhouse with no driveway. What now?

Plan on a sidewalk & barricade permit and, for held parking, a No Parking sign request at least four business days ahead.

Will a dumpster damage my driveway?

It can mark asphalt. Boards under the rails help.

Book a roll-off for your Albany address

Pick up the phone with three things in mind: the debris, the drop spot and your dates. A locally run, independent roll-off company picks up, recommends a container and quotes a drop-off day and a total.

This number is for rentals, not trash pickup. Albany's regular trash and recycling are handled by the city's Department of General Services.
