Dumpster for kitchen and bathroom remodel debris
Older Albany houses come apart heavy. Behind the cabinets there is often plaster on wood lath, and the bathroom may hold a cast-iron tub and tile set in mortar.
Booking hours: Monday to Saturday 8 to 8, Sunday 8 to 1 (Eastern time)

What comes out, and how heavy it is
- Plaster and lathDense and dusty. One room of walls can weigh more than all the cabinets put together.
- Tile and mortar bedHeavy for its size. Bag the small pieces so they don't sift out of gaps in the container.
- Cast-iron tubSeveral hundred pounds, which takes several people to carry. Mention it on the call because it uses a share of your weight allowance.
- Cabinets and countersBulky rather than heavy. Stone counters are the exception.
- DrywallLight in sheets, heavier when soaked. Keep the box covered in rain.
Size and timing
A bathroom gut usually fits a 10-yard box, and a kitchen a 15 or 20 depending on how many walls come down. Tell the company if plaster walls are involved, since they push weight up fast.
Book the container for the demolition days only. Once the walls are closed and the new cabinets are in, the remaining scraps are small enough for bags.

Why the city curb won't cover it
Albany's trash crews take residential construction debris only in cans or tied bundles that one person can lift, within four trips to the truck, and no more than twice a month. A kitchen tear-out produces that much in an afternoon. The city's collection rules spell out the limits.
Book a roll-off for your Albany address
Pick up the phone with three things in mind: the debris, the drop spot and your dates. A locally run, independent roll-off company picks up, recommends a container and quotes a drop-off day and a total.
This number is for rentals, not trash pickup. Albany's regular trash and recycling are handled by the city's Department of General Services.
